Notes about the release
:
In Greek mythology, the divinity Nyx (daughter of Chaos and Caligine) was the personification of the earthly Night, as opposed to her brother Erebus, who represented the night in the infernal world. Nyx was also at odds with her own children Aether (the light) and Emera (the day). As in mythology, the mini album “At Night” also features five entities that narrate different characteristics of the nocturnal experience: from time running to dream, from hope to nightmare, from the passing seasons to awakening in a wide sense.

Maurizio Rana discovered the handpan about six years ago, in 2015, and decided to play it to compose his music, with strong passion and abnegation.
He recorded his first album in 2017, “The Moon and The Sun” (CD) and later he released the E.P. “Music for Handpan” (2018) and the album “Hypnos” (2019). The synergy with different forms of art allowed him to play in concerts with surround sound, in prose and music performances, in sound-induced meditation performances, as well as in percussionists concerts such as, for example, the one with the famous Loris Lombardo.
Thanks to his publications and videoclips, Maurizio has gained an international respect in the Ambient / New-Age style which, with this latest release, it even finds him surrounded by many particular instruments. His technical and expressive research leads him to interact also with a parallel poetic production and, in track 5 of the mini album “At Night”, we find that his poem “Amo la Notte” also blends perfectly with his music.

mentre oscura tutto intorno

perché libera i desideri, perché aiuta a cavalcare i sogni

Interessante. (VivaMag / “At Night’)

⇒ We like so much this song. You were able to create a dreamy atmosphere, thanks also to the choice of sounds you made. Perfect production. Nice project! (Salotto Musicale / “At Night’)

⇒ Beautiful music. We really enjoyed your composition. Beautiful sounds and very cool production. Nice mysterious atmosphere. (Raighes Factory)

⇒ “At Night” by Maurizio Rana: a delightful composition that takes the listener on a sonic journey without the need for lyrics. Due to the instrumental nature of this composition, listeners are able to focus purely on the rich layers of instruments; the percussion, the strings, piano, glockenspiel, music box, and tubular bells. All of this comes together to create an impressively intricate, and captivating, piece of music that results in a wonderful musical experience. (Pillar Artists Music Radar – UK)
